Potential employees must be willing and available to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs if required. The ability and willingness to travel for work out of town on extended periods is an asset.

    Position Overview

    Fiber Optic Installation Technicians work in crews, performing tasks associated with the installation of fiber optic cable from the street to residential apartment buildings, townhouse complexes and commercial buildings.

    Fiber Installer Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Strong communication and customer interaction skills
  • Running cables from poles, manholes and trenches to electrical rooms and suites
  • Installing conduit and terminating cable including Cat5, Cat6, Cat3 and Coaxial
  • Fibre splicing and fibre termination
  • Operation of hand/power tools
  • Ability to work in confined space or at heights; on ladder and man lifts
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures

    Required Knowledge & Skills:
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in the Installation of Telecom equipment
  • Strong manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding atmosphere
  • Self-disciplined, motivated, organized, and a team player
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Strong grasp of the functions available on Smart phones
  • Organization Skills - Paperwork/Reports
  • Telecommunications Line Technician / Lineman related experience in a asset
  • Technical training / certifications are considered an asset
  • Fall Protection, Aerial Platform Training
  • Confined Space Entry Certificates
  • Level 1 First Aid with Level A CPR/AED
  • Criminal record check
